The Claim:

Picture
February 17, 2014

"Rather than asking his constituents to contribute more for the same benefits Alex spearheaded a downtown redevelopment program. He brought new businesses to the town and restarted stalled public transportation projects, such as a LEAD certified parking garage that provided access to zipcars and electric vehicle chargers.

These projects revitalized the city’s downtown area and brought in significant amounts of new revenue, allowing Alex to keep the city’s budget to increase without asking for more in taxes.  In addition, Alex utilized Delphi Solutions’ budget software to release the state’s most transparent budget."

The TRUTH:

Fact:  Alex had ZERO involvement in a "downtown redevelopment program".  The Board of Trustees DID create a Special Improvement District, but Alex was initially opposed to it.

Fact: There are no "stalled public transportation projects".

Fact: Alex gave a no-bid contract to ZipCar, without ANY public discussion

Fact: The Municipal budget has increased every year and claiming that "allowing Alex to keep the city’s budget to increase without asking for more in taxes" is completely untrue.

Fact: Alex gave a no-bid contract to Delphi Solutions, without ANY public discussion
